Dear London: I am coming back!

Well... It has been almost 5 months since I left London... I started the year back “home” in Brazil, coming here for a bit of sunshine and to take care of some (not so fun) family affairs.

It has been a good trip, overall. But while the palm trees, beautiful beaches, pão de queijo and familiar faces are feeding my soul, there’s this soft, ever-present tug at my heart...

... here I am, nearly at the end of my trip, and I find myself missing the drizzle, the chaos, and the comforting sound of international English on every corner.

Counting the days to be back, even to feel cold again. I hear spring has been generous this year, while I am so far away.

Maybe it’s homesickness.
Maybe it’s just habit.
Or maybe it’s time to reconnect with the version of me who first found magic in red buses, free museums and the everyday poetry of London life.

And wrote endlessly about it all.

So, in a slightly nostalgic haze, I decided to breathe life back into this very old blog. I still can’t quite believe I have this domain. And honestly, why was I letting it gather dust?

This little corner of the internet started years ago, when I was new to London and barely spoke English. Back then, I wrote in Portuguese – wide-eyed, slightly lost, but full of curiosity.

London, and the internet, where different worlds then. There was no free-wifi, for starters, so I spent far too many hours typing away in easyinternet cafés (remember those cheap daily passes?) and trying to make sense of this enormous city.

Now, years later, I’m starting fresh (in English this time) with more stories to tell and a gentle goal: to rediscover this city, at the same time that help others love London the way I do, especially without spending a fortune.

Very important in times of economic downturn, right?

So whether you’re new in town, planning your move or just looking for a decent coffee that won’t cost half your rent: welcome.

I’ve missed this city. I’ve missed writing. And it feels good to be back.

See you soon, from the cosy corner of my local cafe ☕🐾 and to my dear friends in London, get ready because I am coming back.

I spent whole days in Tottenham Court Rd circa 2002-2003 to get in touch with friends and family, and write my adventures here, when this blog was called London, London
